Like many healthcare students, I entered medicine with one dream: to become a doctor. I completed my Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). While I genuinely enjoyed treating patients and interacting with them, I realized during my third year of college that I couldn't picture myself practicing dentistry for the rest of my life. It wasn't that I had stopped loving healthcare. I had simply become curious about another side of it. I wanted to understand how healthcare companies worked, how businesses in healthcare were built, and what opportunities existed beyond clinical practice. The only problem was that nobody ever spoke about those opportunities.

After graduating in 2020, I stepped into one of the most uncertain periods in recent history. The COVID-19 pandemic had changed everything. Most of my internship was spent at home, which meant I missed a significant amount of practical exposure that every fresher hopes to gain before entering the workforce. Like many new graduates, I started applying for jobs, believing that if I kept trying, something would eventually work out.

I still remember walking into a dental clinic, hopeful that I might finally get an opportunity. The response was simple but unforgettable: "We don't hire fresh BDS graduates. We either hire MDS-qualified dentists or dentists with several years of experience." It was a difficult moment to process. Clinics weren't hiring, observerships had come to a standstill, and after spending years earning a professional degree, all I wanted was the chance to begin my career and become financially independent.

Rather than waiting for opportunities to appear, I decided to prepare myself for a different future. While studying for CAT, I also pursued an MBA from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai. The experience introduced me to the business side of healthcare and gave me the confidence to explore careers that I had never even known existed during dental school.

Soon after, I entered the corporate world through Clinical Documentation, working with healthcare organizations like IKS Health and DeliverHealth. Over the next two and a half years, I gained a deeper understanding of the healthcare ecosystem beyond hospitals and clinics. I learned how technology, operations, documentation, and business all come together to improve patient care. For the first time, I felt like I had found a path that aligned with both my healthcare background and my growing interest in the corporate world.

Then life surprised me once again.

I was laid off.

Artificial intelligence was rapidly transforming the Clinical Documentation industry, and many roles were being affected. Overnight, I found myself back at the beginning, asking the same question that so many healthcare professionals silently ask themselves: "What now?"

I decided to explore healthcare recruitment, hoping it would be the right next step. But after just one month of working night shifts, I knew it wasn't the career I wanted to build. Looking back, that experience turned out to be one of the most important turning points in my journey because it made me realize that the real challenge wasn't a lack of opportunities.

The real challenge was a lack of awareness.

Healthcare professionals are incredibly skilled, hardworking, and capable. Yet most of us graduate without ever learning about the hundreds of careers that exist beyond traditional clinical practice. There was no roadmap, no structured guidance, and no single place that explained where to begin. Every answer had to be found through endless searching, LinkedIn conversations, webinars, and trial and error. It often felt like everyone else had somehow received a manual that I had missed.

That realization stayed with me. Alongside a community role that helped support my finances, I began dedicating my time to researching non-clinical healthcare careers. Every single day, I picked one career path, connected with professionals already working in that field, learned from their experiences, and shared everything I discovered on LinkedIn. I wasn't trying to become a creator or build a business. I simply wanted to document everything I wished someone had told me when I was starting out.

Slowly, something unexpected happened.

People began reaching out.

Healthcare professionals from different backgrounds started sending messages with the very same questions I had once searched for myself. They wanted to know how to transition, where to begin, whether they needed another degree, and if meaningful careers outside clinical practice were even possible. They weren't looking for shortcuts. They were looking for clarity, direction, and someone who understood exactly what they were going through.

That's how MedPivot came into existence.

Not because I had a detailed business plan or wanted to build a startup, but because I had lived through the problem myself. What started with conversations on LinkedIn gradually grew into one-on-one career consultations, practical career resources, mentorship, and eventually a small but passionate team united by the same mission.

Today, MedPivot exists to make sure that no healthcare professional has to navigate this journey alone. Every roadmap we create, every resource we publish, and every conversation we have is rooted in one simple belief: healthcare professionals deserve to know every opportunity available to them before deciding what comes next.
